CARBON COUNTY, MONTANAJoliet School - Class photo, circa 1915 |
|
Can you name some of these children?
Those already identified are listed below the photograph.
Gladys Leimbach, wearing a hat, is on the far left in the back row. To the left of the teacher in the second row are three boys with bib overalls: Patrick Ernst Leimbach, Ferdinand "Fritz" Leimbach and Claude Leimbach. In the front row, in dark coat with white shirt, is William Allen "Jack" Leimbach.
Richard believes the photo dates from approximately 1917-1918 based on the age of William Leimbach who was born 6 August, 1910. He also believes it is of school district 12 which was several miles west of Joliet and north of Boyd. That is the school district in which Ernest and Mabel Leimbach lived from 1914 to at least 1926. According to the school census for this district, there were 39 school-aged children in the district during the summer of 1918. Obviously not all 39 were at school the day the photo was taken. The family names in the school census are: Anderson, Baxter, Berkland, Cox, Ennis, Gibellino, Gruel, Wall, Weatherford, Leimbach/Leimback, Merrick, Mogan, Monahan, Plummer, Snell.
